Paragon Drive Backup by Paragon Software Group is the "TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award Winner" This disk imaging software is brimming with features and tools to create an exact image of your hard drive and other utility tasks.

The only faults we found with Paragon Drive Backup were that the program was less automated than Acronis True Image and copying to CD is a challenge.

Feature Set:  

Paragon Drive Backup lets you schedule regular backups at startup, logon, daily, weekly or monthly. This program can also format or delete a drive. This is ideal when creating an exact copy of your drive, because you must format the receiving drive before copying.

Ease of Use:  

Paragon's Drive Backup is more challenging to use than our top disk imaging software choice, Acronis True Image. You must choose what to do after setting up a backup image project. Instead of a wizard to guide you, Drive Backup requires several steps to complete the task; it's easy to forget to choose the next step and wonder why your backup hasn't begun.

Also, when we tried to create an image of our hard drive to a CD, we received an error that the CD was already in use. Paragon Drive Backup offered options, but none worked. When we tried the reboot option, the program started the backup before Windows startup. In short, we didn't succeed. That's why we feel this program may be too difficult for a novice to understand and use.

Backup/Restore Process:  

During the testing stage, we also attempted to create a backup image to a local drive, network drive, and a CD-ROM. Drive Backup did well creating a backup image of our C: drive to a network drive and a local drive, but we were never able to create an image to a CD-ROM.

Help/Support:  

Paragon Drive Backup offers a knowledge base online, email support, and a phone contact number, but it is an international call. The help file provided with Drive Backup allows you to view general help files and search for a particular word or phrase. However, Paragon Drive Backup doesn't offer automatic updates.

Summary:  

Paragon Drive Backup is a complete disk imaging tool for backing up to another drive, network, or storage media. The program is also designed to configure and upgrade your data to a new drive. The novice, however, would require extra time to learn the advanced features.
