Paragon Exact Image will allow you to not only save your data to a local drive, network or another storage media, you can also save your data to a physical partition.
With Exact Image, you can perform incremental backups to an existing backup image, skip auxiliary files to save space and time, and schedule backups at different intervals. You can also create and save images to partitions quite easily. However, you can only create a backup image of your hard drive; you cannot copy individual files or folders. Paragon Exact Image lets you resize a partition while restoring the data, and during the imaging process you can password–protect your image.
Ease of Use:
The Paragon Exact Image control panel is easy to use since the program includes a wizard that takes you step–by–step through the task of imaging your drive.
Backup/Restore Process:
When we made a backup to a network drive, we no trouble and we finished in only 40 minutes. However, even though Paragon provides some easy–to–understand wizards for creating backups, we had difficulties when imaging to CD; we kept receiving error messages.
We also noticed Paragon required the largest storage space of any imaging software we reviewed—15 CDs. Our higher–ranked disk imaging products were able to do the same backup on only 11 CDs even though we used the same settings for each job.
Help/Support:
Paragon Exact Image has an excellent online knowledge base. You can also fill out a support request online or view questions and answers in the customer service forum. The help button in the disk imaging program is simple to spot, as well.
Some of the drawbacks, however, are that this software lacks the ability to search a particular topic from the help files, and Paragon doesn't have automatic updates.
Summary:
Over–all, Paragon Exact Image by Paragon Software Group is good disk imaging software, but for more perks and no quirks, check out our higher–ranked imaging programs.
